New Perspectives-Module 6

The 6th module of new perspectives is about general cybersecurity-in particular password security, identity theft, different types of viruses and more. I would say cybersecurity might be one of the largest technology industries, if not the largest in the modern world (I think in the mid 2000s). There are various firms dedicated to cybersecurity as well as various virus protection/Identity protection programs available (McAfree, etc.).

I know that the militaries of different countries place a particularly massive emphasis on cybersecurity against hackers and Trojans. I read last semester on Wikipedia about a hacker from the middle east who stole an extremely large amount of money from various users in I think the largest Trojan horse operation to date back in the late 2000s-early 2010s until he was eventually caught. At a similar time there was also a massive Sony hack I had heard about on TV when I was young.

My first experience with a somewhat malicious program was when I was around 9 or 10 years old. Me and my siblings had an old Android phone we all shared together. We tried to get free Robux (Roblox currency) and ended up with Scientology Adware on the phone, though thankfully it didn’t really hinder our use of it. I think these days Microsoft PCs and laptops are pretty secure as McAfree is sometimes pre installed and not only that, but they have an excessively careful firewall you might almost even want to disable because of how it picks up on nearly anything as a threat or potential Trojan.
