My Hobby-Video Game Design

Hello, I’m Nassir Khalil Lanier. The hobby that drives my life the most is game design. I’ve always been fascinated with the idea of creating unique experiences for others to enjoy. It started when I was around 9, and I discovered an app called Sketch Nation that let you create games on the small Iphone 4 that I shared with my siblings. The user would draw or insert an image for assets, and adjust sliders for the gameplay mechanics and physics. I made various projects that at the time felt like incredible small games or apps. Today, I understand it was rather primitive, but I loved using it to express my imagination to the fullest. Later, I would get a library book that talked about the creation of over 100 different games. I was also introduced to the Indie gaming scene by the story of Undertale and Toby Fox, and decided I would be like them one day. I’ve experimented with and used various game engines, my favorites being RPGMaker and Gamemaker. Sketch Nation would eventually be taken offline due to lack of funding, but I had actually had the chance to speak with its creator this year, fueling my motivation more.
